Want to read everything on the shelf? We love that kind of energy. A few gentle limits keep the club fair for every reader, safe for your Amazon account, and honest for the authors waiting on their first reviews.

🚦 Why limits exist (and why they're a good thing)

Fairness. The shelf is shared by the whole club. Limits stop any one reader from scooping up a pile of books that then sit unread while other readers — and waiting authors — miss out.
Your account. Posting many reviews in a short burst is the classic pattern that trips Amazon’s automated systems. A paced shelf protects your reviewing privileges without you having to think about it.
Real reading. A book you actually finished produces a review worth reading. Fewer books at a time means each one gets your genuine attention.

📚 Three books at a time

You can have up to three books out from the library at once. A book frees its slot the moment it completes — when your review shows up on Amazon, or the moment you send the author your notes instead.

Shelf full?

Finish (or cancel) one of your three and the next book is yours. The shelf isn’t going anywhere — a book you leave today will usually still be waiting when a slot opens.

🗓️ Due dates, reminders, and grace days

Every book shows its turnaround up front

Each book lists its due window before you pick it up — sized to the book, so a quick read gets a few days and a marathon gets more. The clock starts when the book lands on your shelf.

We nudge, we don't nag

You’ll get one friendly reminder email the day before a book is due. That’s it — no countdown timers, no pressure.

Life happens: 3 grace days

Running late? Every due date comes with three quiet grace days. If a book slips past those, it simply returns to the shelf so another reader can give it its moment. It costs you nothing — and you can even pick the same book up again later.

🔄 The guilt-free cancel

Not feeling a book? You can cancel any time before you turn in your review — no penalty. We’ll ask you to pick a quick reason (and you can leave the author a kind note if you like), then the book goes back on the shelf and your slot is free again. We’d much rather you read something you enjoy than trudge through something you don’t.

Two exceptions

Once you’ve turned a review in, that book can’t be canceled — your words are already written and on their way to Amazon. And cancels are capped at four per week, so a run of changed minds doesn’t empty the shelf.
